The pianist Maria João Pires is an outstanding classical music performer. She gained international recognition when she was awarded the first prize at the International Competition in honor of Beethoven's bicentennial in 1970 in Brussels. Her career includes numerous tours, interpreting the works of Bach, Beethoven, Schumann,

Schubert, Mozart, Brahms, Chopin and many other composers. Invited by the world's great orchestras, she regularly performs in Europe, Canada, Japan, Israel and the USA. “Her piano style has often been described as magical, captivating, and deeply poetic” (Deutsche Grammophon).

As a dreamer, she created a unique work in the field of the relationship between music and nature: Belgais Arts Center (Portugal).
