Since midnight (local time), it has been illegal for under-16s in Australia to have their own accounts on social media platforms. The Australian government has named a total of ten providers. In addition to TikTok, the age restriction also applies to Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, X, YouTube, Twitch, Reddit and Kick. Responsibility lies explicitly with the platforms, not with parents or young people. Those under the age of 16 will not be punished, but the services will be if they disregard the regulations.

Seit Mitternacht (Ortszeit) ist es unter 16-Jährigen in Australien verboten, ein eigenes Konto auf Social-Media-Plattformen zu besitzen.
