Yesterday's future is dead.
Yesterday's future is dead. And already today, humanity peeks through the peephole, filled with fear, to see what new deadly threat is knocking loudly at our door. In this outstanding cartoon by Italian artist Enrico Bertuccioli, it is an iron fist demanding entry, already casting a dark shadow on the door, remotely controlled by cables from a dark force we do not understand. With nothing but the “Emergency Exit” sign, Bertuccioli points to a last glimmer of hope: that Artificial Intelligence must either be under 100 percent human control or be shut down completely. His symbolic artwork tells a dramatic story in a nutshell; it is a masterpiece of indictment and apocalyptic threat, yet Bertuccioli remains optimistic enough to allow for one last small escape route: Let us hope that the humanoid robot itself must follow the running man in the pictogram down a long hallway, only to then fall through an open back entrance into a giant trash shredder...
